Three ways to meet

Choose your way
Let’s GO.

Choose a mobile visit or an office appointment. Coordinating six or more applicants? A Group Plan can coordinate office appointments, a mobile event, or both. Each mobile visit is quoted separately.

01 / MOBILE VISIT

At your location.

Request mobile fingerprinting at your location in Sacramento or the surrounding area. Share your city, applicant count, and preferred date. We’ll confirm availability, visit arrangements, and any applicable mobile-service charges.

Standard mobile group arrangements start at six applicants at the same on-site visit. Fewer applicants? Ask about a separately quoted mobile visit or office appointments.

03 / GROUP PLAN

Bring your group.

Coordinated fingerprinting for six or more applicants—through office appointments, a mobile event, or a combination of both.

Office attendance does not count toward the six-applicant minimum for each standard mobile group visit.

Request a Group Plan

We’ll help arrange your visit by appointment, confirm the details with you, and explain the applicable charges before service.

For organizations & group coordinators

Coordinated for your group.
Flexible for each applicant.

Arrange a mobile group event and individual appointments at our downtown Sacramento office within one coordinated plan. Your applicants do not all need to attend at once.

Standard mobile group arrangements start at six applicants attending the same on-site visit. Office appointments do not count toward that minimum. Each mobile visit is quoted according to its location, attendance, and scheduling requirements.

Fewer applicants at the mobile location? Ask about a separately quoted visit or coordinated office appointments. Share your applicant counts, preferred dates, and any fingerprinting deadline so we can discuss the appropriate arrangement.

What to bring—and
what to keep afterward.

Have your paperwork and identification ready, and confirm your fees before the visit.

Read California DOJ applicant guidance
  1. 1

    Bring the correct form.

Bring the Request for Live Scan Service form and instructions supplied by the organization requesting your background check. Complete your personal details and ask that organization to resolve any missing agency information before your visit.

  2. 2

    Bring valid photo ID.

Bring valid, unexpired photo identification. California DOJ does not accept expired identification for Live Scan fingerprinting.

  3. 3

    Confirm the total.

Confirm your total, what your requesting organization will pay, and your payment arrangements before the visit.

  4. 4

    After fingerprinting, keep your ATI.

Keep your transaction number, called an ATI. You’ll need it and your date of birth to check submission status on California DOJ’s website. An ATI identifies the transaction; by itself, it does not confirm that DOJ has received it.

What is Live Scan?

Live Scan captures fingerprints electronically for submission to California DOJ. An FBI check may be included when requested and authorized for the applicant’s purpose.

California DOJ: the process ↗
Do I need an appointment?

Yes—office visits are by appointment. Whether you need an individual office visit, mobile service, or a Group Plan for six or more applicants, we’ll help you explore available times. Send an inquiry to get started; your appointment is reserved once we confirm it with you.

Can our group come to your downtown office?

Yes. Group Plans for six or more applicants can include separate or consecutive office appointments, subject to availability. Smaller groups can request office appointments, too. Share your applicant count and any fingerprinting deadline so we can discuss the appropriate arrangement.

Can our group combine a mobile event and office appointments?

Yes—ask about coordinating both within one Group Plan, subject to availability. Standard mobile group arrangements start at six applicants attending the same on-site visit. Office appointments and applicants attending another mobile visit do not count toward that minimum.

A smaller mobile visit can be considered through a separate quotation. Each additional location or return visit is reviewed and quoted separately. Group coordination does not automatically include a discount, extra trips, or simultaneous office and mobile availability.

How much will my Live Scan cost?

Your total may include our fingerprinting service fee (the rolling fee), applicable government processing fees, and any agreed mobile or event charges. Contact us for a written breakdown and confirm which charges, if any, your requesting organization will pay.

California DOJ: fee information ↗
Who receives my background check results?

For an agency-requested check, DOJ sends the results to the requesting organization. Contact that organization to confirm receipt and discuss the next step in your application.

California DOJ: applicant guidance ↗
How long does processing take?

California DOJ states that most results are released to the requesting agency within three business days, but some submissions take longer. This is not a guaranteed turnaround. Fingerprint quality, incorrect submission details, or additional review can cause delays. A delay does not necessarily mean the applicant has criminal information on their record.

Your fingerprinting appointment, government processing, and your organization’s final decision are separate steps. Contact the requesting organization about its deadline and next steps. When an FBI check is required, its review may also affect timing.

How do I check my submission’s status?

Use your ATI number and date of birth on California DOJ’s status website. An ATI alone is not proof of transmission; contact the operator who took your fingerprints if transmission needs to be checked. For employment, licensing, or results questions, contact the organization that requested your check.

What if I do not have the Live Scan form?

Contact the organization requesting your background check before your appointment. It must provide the correct form and agency information for your application.

California DOJ: form requirements ↗
I have been fingerprinted before. Do I need another appointment?

A previous background check may not satisfy a different organization’s requirements. Confirm with the organization requesting your current check before arranging another appointment.

California DOJ: applicant guidance ↗
How do I change or cancel an appointment?

Contact us as soon as your plans change. For a group or mobile visit, include any change to applicant count, location, or timing. We’ll discuss available alternatives and any effect on the quoted arrangements or charges before confirming a change. Moving applicants from a mobile event to office appointments does not automatically remove the agreed mobile-visit charge. Any change remains subject to the terms you accepted and any amendment agreed with you.

Review the terms provided with your quote or appointment confirmation. Sending a change request does not itself change the appointment.

What if I am asked to have my fingerprints taken again?

Follow the notice and the instructions from your requesting organization. Contact the operator who took your fingerprints to discuss the appropriate next step and confirm any applicable charges before arranging another visit.

Do not send rejection notices, identity documents, or background-check information through this website’s general inquiry form.

Fees & payment

Know your total
before your appointment.

Your total may include our fingerprinting service fee—also called the rolling fee—applicable government processing fees, and any agreed mobile or event charges.

Request a written quote showing the total for the agreed service, the provider and government charges, and who pays each amount. For a Group Plan, we’ll identify office appointments and each mobile visit separately. Additional locations, return visits, and changes to attendance or timing require review under the agreed terms. Group coordination does not automatically include a discount.
